MISS: Clearlake Police arrested Jeramy Jamz Patton after he allegedly hit a neighbor in the head with a pipe. The victim reportedly challenged Patton to a fight.
MISS: Two days later, Clearlake Police arrested Miguel Angel Feliciano after he allegedly broke his neighbor”s nose during an altercation.
Unemployment up slightly
MISS: Lake County unemployment increased 0.4 percentage points to 13.8 percent in October, according to preliminary data released by the state.
HIT: The county”s rate stayed below 14 percent for the second straight month.
Egret down
MISS: The Egret, a 32-foot sloop and the flagship of the Lakeport Yacht Club, sank into Clear Lake for unknown reasons late last week.
Beds are burning
MISS: Two box springs and one mattress caught fire in the alley behind Curry”s Furniture in Lakeport. The cause is unknown, but a store rep believes someone set the items on fire.
The giving season
HIT: Golden State Water and Lake County community members, distributed 104 turkeys to in-need families with the annual Operation Gobble program.
HIT: Supporters of Congressman Mike Thompson are preparing for his 17th annual Toys for Kids event, set to take place next month.
Ticket to ride
HIT: Paul Reed claimed the second winning California Lottery Fantasy 5 ticket. He bought it at the Cobb Texaco station.
HIT: Reed shares a $360,000 jackpot with a Sacramento man.
MISS: Lake County Publishing could not confirm if Reed was a Lake County resident because he told Lottery officials he did not want that information revealed.
Socks paired with hip-hop
HIT: Kelseyville hip-hop group K-Town is organizing a Crazy Sock Drive for children in Shriners Hospitals for Children in Sacramento during the holidays.
HIT: The group will visit the hospital the weekend before Christmas to distribute the socks to patients.
MISS: The group is organizing a benefit concert, but is having trouble finding a venue to donate its facility.
News program announced
HIT: Lake County Public, Education and Government (PEG) TV Channel 8 and sSs Multimedia announced a new local news program that would air twice a week and broadcast on the Internet.
HIT: Anchors, reporters, sponsors and underwriters are sought for the program.
MISS: Anchor and reporter positions will be voluntary until sponsors are acquired.
Healthier school meals
HIT: Children are served healthier meals in school, thanks to standards by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
MISS: Children utilized lunch strikes, Facebook protest pages, YouTube parody videos and other means to voice opposition.
