MIDDLETOWN — Congressman Mike Thompson, along with Lake County Board members and other volunteers, won”t bring presents from the North Pole to children for Christmas; instead, they are buying them locally for the 17th annual Toys for Kids.
Last year, the toys were purchased at the Clearlake Walmart and this year, the toys will be bought at Funtopia in Middletown.
The Toys for Kids fundraiser is meant to buy toys for children in need. This year, 627 children are on the gift list.
Tami Ipsen, Hidden Valley Lake Community Services District administrative assistant said Funtopia could not have stepped on board at a better time.
People who would like to donate toys can drop off unwrapped gifts, up $15 per toy, at the Lake County office of Education and the Record-Bee offices on South Main Street in Lakeport, as well as the HVLCSD on Hartmann Road in Hidden Valley Lake. For more information, call 987-9201.
