CLEARLAKE — A Clearlake man was transported to a Bay Area hospital for reconstructive hand surgery for an injury that allegedly occurred after he broke into another man”s home Friday.
Jesus Vazquez, whose age is unknown, left the scene but officers found him in a creek bed behind the home with a partially severed thumb, according to the Clearlake Police Department (CPD).
Alvaro Jimenez, 23, of Clearlake, allegedly woke up to find Vasquez in his bedroom Friday morning, according to CPD. The two men allegedly started a fight involving a piece of rebar, according to CPD. The fight eventually ended up outside the home.
A woman called CPD reporting a man was being beaten outside her Baylis Avenue home. Officers responded and found Jimenez standing outside of his home with blood on his face and hands, according to CPD.
Jimenez said his home was broken into, and officers saw a trail of blood leading to it, according to CPD. Jimenez said his home was burglarized the previous day, so he stayed home Friday to prevent a similar incident, according to CPD.
Vasquez was airlifted to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital before he was transported to Stanford University Medical Center for reconstructive surgery.
Jimenez refused medical assistance on scene and was transported to St. Helena Hospital, Clear Lake by a family friend.
