LOWER LAKE — Authorities identified the man who died in a head-on collision Wednesday morning as Leo Galli, 73, of Clearlake Oaks.

Galli was driving a blue 2012 Mazda2 southbound on Highway 29 just south of Spruce Grove Road when he crossed the double-yellow line and traveled into the path of an oncoming 1999 gold Chrysler sedan about 8:15 a.m., according to California Highway Patrol (CHP) Officer Mark Crutcher.

The driver of the Chrysler, Beverly Reynolds applied her breaks but was unable to avoid collision.

Galli died at the scene.

Reynolds, 66, of Lower Lake was airlifted by REACH to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with major injuries.Her 13-year-old passenger from Lower Lake was taken to St. Helena Hospital, Clear Lake with complaints of back and neck pain.

Galli was the 15th person killed in a Lake County crash this year, according to CHP Officer Kory Reynolds.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Crutcher.
