LEMOORE — Middletown High School juniors Sierra Egger and Jessie Flynn each went 0-2 on Friday during the CIF State Girls” Wrestling Championships in Lemoore, ending their seasons.
Egger, competing at 108 pounds, lost 14-4 to Central Coastal Section champion Brenda Mendiola in a first-round match. After receiving a bye in the consolation bracket, Egger was pinned in the first round by Beatrice Cortez of the Southern Section.
Egger, the North Coast Section runner-up this season, was making her third straight appearance in the state tournament.
Flynn, the NCS runner-up at 165 pounds, dropped 10-8 decision to Nahilia McGee of the Southern Section in a first-round match. After receiving a bye in the consolation bracket, Flynn”s tournament ended with a 6-2 loss to Jenny Stone of the Central Coast Section.
It was Flynn”s first trip to the state finals.
