CLEARLAKE OAKS — A man died when he was hit by a truck while riding his bicycle on Highway 20 in Clearlake Oaks Thursday night in the area of the Lake Point Lodge.
A bicyclist wearing dark clothing was heading eastbound at about 9:30 p.m., California Highway Patrol (CHP) Officer Matt Norton stated in a report.
William Hartman, of Yuba City, driving a red, 2003 GMC Sonoma did not see the bike and drove into the rear, Norton stated. As a result, the bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The man”s name has not yet been released pending notification of next-of-kin.
The bicyclist was not wearing a helmet, and neither drugs nor alcohol appeared to be involved, Norton stated.
CHP, Sheriff”s Office and Northshore Fire personnel responded.
The incident is under investigation by CHP Officer Geer.
