REDWOOD VALLEY — The Terrace Middle School wrestling team of Lakeport came away with 10 medals from the Eagle Peak Invitational on Saturday at Eagle Peak Middle School in Redwood Valley.

Half of those medals were firsts. The Vikings also had one second and four thirds.

First-place medalists were Sergio Rodriguez, Jacob Pyorre, Jake Jackson, Sam Long and Aireon Banuet. Rodriguez rallied from a third-period deficit to beat his opponent in the finals. Pyorre put the pressure on the opposition all day and did not allow a single escape point. Jackson, using his speed and power, scored a series of takedowns to outmaneuver the opposition. Long won all of his matches by pin. Banuet”s road to the championship included a double-leg takedown to win an overtime match.

Isaac Lewis took home a second-place medal while Caleb Blyleven, Josiah Ruiz, Nathan Phillips and Anthony Stutsman all finished third.

Cameron Turner also wrestled for the Vikings but had to retire early with an injury.
