LAKEPORT — Washington state fisherman Jeremy Percifield of Kennewick is making the most of his mini-vacation at Clear Lake.
Percifield, one of 132 fishermen competing in the B.A.S.S. Nation Western Divisional championships at Clear Lake, continues to hold the lead through the first two rounds of the three-day tournament, which opened Wednesday and concludes today with a 2:30 p.m. weigh-in at Konocti Vista Casino, Resort and Marina. He weighed in a five-fish limit for the second day in a row to remain atop the leader board with 55 pounds, 15 ounces.
After a big first round – 34 pounds even – Percifield brought 21 pounds, 15 ounces to the weigh scales on Thursday. He has just more than a 10-pound lead over current runner-up Tim Johnston of Montana headed into today”s final round. Johnston is sitting at 45-13.
Also in the top 10 are Ed McCaw of Colorado at 43-12; Ty Faber of Colorado at 43-7; Keegan Graves of Idaho at 41-14; Marshall Ridenour of Montana at 40-6; Trevor Scott of Colorado and Kris Bosley of New Mexico at 39-5; Brian Severson of Arizona at 38-10; and Ronald Welch of California at 38-3.
Weighing in the big fish of the day (and tournament) was Denton Crofts of Meridian, Idaho, at 10 pounds, 9 ounces.
Justin Campbell of Washington, currently in 11th place at 38-2, made the biggest move on Thursday, weighing in a five-fish limit of 26 pounds, 6 ounces.
There were 22 five-fish limits weighed in on Thursday compared to 45 during first-round action Wednesday.
