LOWER LAKE — A dog allegedly jumped in a driver”s lap, which resulted in a head-on collision Monday afternoon.

Sharon Smith was driving a tan Chevy Suburban westbound on Highway 20, near the intersection of Highway 29, according to California Highway Patrol (CHP) Officer Nick Powell.

When Smith, 35, attempted to turn left into a parking lot, the dog allegedly jumped on her lap, caused her to swerve into the eastbound lane and crash into Linda Chapman, driving a red Toyota truck, Powell said.

Smith complained of minor back pain, and Chapman, 50, was transported to Sutter Lakeside Hospital in Lakeport with unknown injuries, Powell said.

CHP officers responded to the scene at about 12:30 p.m. The collision is under investigation.
