CLEARLAKE — A Clearlake man was airlifted with major injuries after crashing a skateboard on a steep city road while showing off for his stepson Tuesday night, a city police spokesman said.
Michael Huffman, 43, was reported to be in intensive care at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital later Tuesday night, Clearlake Police Sgt. Nick Bennett said. The sergeant had no update on the man”s condition or the extent of his injuries Wednesday.
The incident occurred around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Cedar and Davis avenues in Clearlake, Bennett said.
Huffman was reportedly watching his stepson skateboarding when he grabbed the board and said, “check this out,” according to Bennett.
Huffman proceeded to ride the skateboard down Davis Avenue but eventually slipped off and fell on his face, the sergeant added. The man was unresponsive when medics arrived.
The original call to police dispatch reported the incident as a crash involving a motorcycle and vehicle but no motor vehicles were involved, Bennett said.
