
LAKE COUNTY — A standoff that lasted for more than five hours ended just before 11 p.m. Wednesday.
Lake County Sheriff”s Office (LCSO) deputies responded to a neighborhood in Clearlake Oaks after a woman reported her neighbor shot her with a high-powered pellet gun, according to Capt. Chris Macedo, who was not present at the scene.
When police arrived, the 52-year-old man with the pellet gun reportedly began shooting at them.
At about 5 p.m. multiple law enforcement units, including the SWAT team, responded to the Clearlake Oaks home in the area of Fourth and Shaul. Information on the police scanner indicated the man may have been in possession of other firearms. The surrounding roads were closed off and some nearby residents were evacuated while police attempted to talk the man out of the house. The deputy, initial victim and the suspect, not yet identified, received minor to no injuries. The suspect was placed under arrest at about 10:45 p.m., according to Macedo.
