LAKE COUNTY ? Cobb Mountain 4-H Club members practiced their prepared speeches on how to make an Origami star, how to knit using a loom and what to pack for a mountain biking trip for the Tenacious Talkers Toastmasters Club 8731.

Layla Wall, Kai Lew and Ethan Lew practiced their public speaking skills and received feedback from toastmasters as a part of their proficiency requirements during the club”s regular meeting on May 9.

Each 4-H speaker is required to give a presentation in front of various groups in the community.

Members are between the ages of 8 and 10 and participate in the Lake County 4-H Presentation Day and Regional Presentation Day, which included 4-H competitors from Lake, Mendocino and Humboldt counties.

Lew is also preparing for the state 4-H Presentation Day competition at U.C. Davis on May 25.

Lake County Toastmasters meet every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Allied Information Systems building, located at 2150 Argonaut Road in Finley.
