I believe that Supervisor Farrington was right on when he wanted to dig up the manhole to check and see if the water was still coming down the trench where they covered it up with concrete.
On the other hand, I cannot believe when they dug up the manhole originally and discovered that the water was coming down the pipe into the manhole that someone did not say “wow we discovered where the water was coming from the ditch to the manhole.”
This would have been first chance to see where the water was coming from. How about going up the line and digging a couple of holes and pinpoint where the water was coming from? Instead we took the manhole, moved it uphill and then poured cement in the area where the old manhole was. All we did was block the water and make it keep going where it has been going, which is under the fill, under the houses and down the hill we go ? water, dirt and houses. So here we are again with the same problem and no closer being solved.
My personal opinion is I believe that the county is at fault totally and we do not want to find out everything because that would prove that we are wrong. Therefore, I believe that the County of Lake should cease the property tax bills, water fees, sewer fees for the residents of Lakeside Heights, because when it is all over and the proof is completed I believe they will find that the “good ole boy” treatment backfired big time. It is just not fair to any of the residents of Lakeside Heights for what they have been through and what is yet to come for that whole subdivision.
I have a friend who looked at a house approximately eight months ago and one of the walls and foundation of one of the houses had already moved out over 1-1/2 feet.
It seems that this has been going on for a long time and the leak of 10 gallons per minute would be millions of gallons of water by now.
I understand that if you go back in the old archives of the Board of Supervisors meetings, several questions that are in everyone”s mind would be answered.
I do give Supervisor Farrington credit for trying to do the right thing but he just could not get others support. So therefore today we are exactly where we were when the soil started to move.
I am not against anybody or anything, but I think what is right is right for everyone. The county has insurance and under the circumstances the homeowners insurance is no good.
I believe that this is a start of big, major lawsuits, which are more than expected, and in the end will hurt all the taxpayers of Lake County, not only the ones at Lakeside Heights.
