LUCERNE — Karen Baldwin gets flowers brought to her every night, not from her husband, but from her cat, Hector.
Baldwin, of Lucerne, rescued Hector more than a year ago when he was abandoned by his mother. He was one in a litter of three.
“They were as big as a mouse, full of stickers,” Baldwin said.
Hector was the only one who survived.
“I nursed him with a bottle,” she said.
Hector started bringing flowers to Baldwin every day; as many as eight flowers at a time.
“He cleaned off three bushes and now brings me cherries,” she said.
One night, Baldwin said she found a flower on her pillow.
“I thought it was a bird and I jumped out of bed,” she said.
Hector has even put a flower in her husband”s shoe.
Baldwin said she can”t believe how far Hector has traveled to bring her flowers.
She said she drove around to see where he was getting them from and discovered he had to jump two fences behind her property with flowers in his mouth, to bring them home to her.
“He is just a love,” she said.
