LAKE COUNTY — Two Sacramento County men were airlifted with moderate injuries after the truck they were riding in went off Highway 20 and struck a tree near the Cache Creek Bridge Monday evening.
Fair Oaks resident Anthony Hodges was driving his 2007 Chevrolet Silverado westbound on the highway when the pickup veered to the right and onto a dirt shoulder just west of Cache Creek around 7:20 p.m., California Highway Patrol Officer Steve Patrick stated.
The truck continued off the roadway and hit a large tree before coming to rest in a pasture, Patrick added. Hodges, 27, and his only passenger, Tyler Demeola, suffered undisclosed moderate injuries.
Demeola, 31, of Sacramento was flown by REACH to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital while Hodges was airlifted by Cal Star to University of California, Davis Medical Center, according to Patrick.
Both men were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, which remains under investigation, the officer stated. Alcohol was not an apparent factor.
