LAKEPORT — District 4 Supervisor Anthony Farrington was this month”s guest speaker at the monthly luncheon meeting of Branch 168 of Sons in Retirement (SIR).

Farrington, born and raised in Lake County, has family roots that go back more than 150 years.

His presentation covered issues directly affecting the county, including the slowly recovering economy, rent control issues concerning senior citizens, public safety, water issues and his views on Clear Lake, which he considers to be the county”s most valuable resource.

Dean Faris, the big SIR, also reported at the luncheon that with the addition of four members, they are almost at their 100-active-member goal, at 96.

SIR is a social organization for men of retirement age. It has 142 branches with 18,000 members throughout the state.

Faris also announced upcoming events, which include a trip to the Wells Fargo Center in Sacramento on Aug. 29 to see the show “Chicago.” The cost will be $95 and will include bus transportation and a luncheon at the The Old Spaghetti Factory.

Branch 168 holds a luncheon on the second Friday of each month at the conference room at Konocti Vista Casino, located at 2755 Mission Rancheria Road in Lakeport.
