Hoberg”s Resort hope halted
Miss: Hopes for the Hoberg”s Resort grand opening fade as the dreams of many involved in the project rot away along with the resort”s allegedly asbestos riddled,
crumbling structures.
Miss: Westlake Environmental owner, Keith Westlake, filed a lawsuit March 19
alleging Cobb Mountain Partners LCC did not pay a $30,250 bill for cleanup his company performed in November, only to receive a counter-lawsuit.
Lawyer let go
Miss: Lakeport City Attorney Steve Brookes was terminated from his position Tuesday night following a unanimous vote during a City Council meeting closed session. Brookes was involved in a hit-and-run crash in 2011, at which time he was intoxicated.
Marijuana grows discovered
Hit: The Lake County Sheriff”s Office narcotics task force seized 526 plants of
marijuana and two processed pounds
during five separate operations that took place between June 19 and Tuesday.
Disconnect in court
Miss: A judge ordered Monday
deliberations in former Lake County Sheriff”s deputy Derik Dion Navarro”s case to be restarted after a juror allegedly used the Internet to do research during deliberations. Navarro pleaded not guilty to 16 counts of child sex abuse.
Fourth of July boat race
Hit: People showed their ingenuity Friday by building boats made out of only
cardboard and duct tape and racing them in the Cardboard/ Duct Tape Regatta. Some did not make it to the finish line, but their creativity entertained hundreds of onlookers.
Paratransit strike
Miss: About 30 protestors picketed Monday and Tuesday, forcing Lake Transit to reduce bus services.
Hit: Teamsters and Paratransit management have yet to reach a deal on wage increases for Paratransit personnel, but will extend
current contracts for 30 days.

Miss: A man who allegedly tried to crawl through a dog door was shot at during an alleged home invasion Sunday.
Hit: The resident of the home where the incident occurred was able to protect his home and no one was hurt.

methamphetamine charges after
discovering drugs that allegedly
belonged to him.
Catering gets double-time
Hit: The city council voted to revise a mobile catering ordinance to allow vendors who meet a certain criteria to park in one place for two hours instead of the previously allowed one hour.
West Nile alert
Miss: A sample of mosquitoes collected Tuesday near Upper Lake tested positive
for West Nile Virus and has been reported
in 24 California counties this year.
