LAKE COUNTY — The Lake Family Resource Center (Lake FRC) would like to offer a huge thank you to the Jennifer Strong and the Lakeport Fire Protection District. for hosting a child”s dream birthday party for the child participants of its domestic violence program.

Jennifer Strong, the donor of this spectacular happening, purchased the party at a fundraiser event last fall. With charitable intent in mind, Strong graciously donated the party to the children staying at the domestic violence shelter. Shelter manager, Sheri Young and firefighter Dan Kane spent months planning for the perfect date; watching for ideal weather conditions so that the children could take advantage of all fire house activities. On June 23, a dozen children were invited to attend the birthday party where the kids had free roam of the Lakeport firehouse. The morning”s activities included a full tour of the fire house, demonstrations of putting on firefighter gear, shooting the fire hose and a ride through town on fire engines with sirens howling. After the children returned from their ride, the firefighter”s had their recreation room set up for a pizza party. The laughter and smiles were extraordinary as the children recognized the theme with attractive fire trucks, balloons, gear, equipment and blazing hot cupcakes. The children left the party at the fire house with a fire bucket full of fun goodies to take with them.

On behalf of the children and the Domestic Violence Program, an enormous thank you to Jennifer Strong and all of the firefighters at the Lakeport fire department, for making a day that these children will never forget.
