LAKEPORT — The prosecution asked for documents it will use in its investigation in a case against a woman accused of embezzling.

Judge Andrew S. Blum approved an unopposed appeal by District Attorney deputy Rachel Abelson, who requested bank statements.

Tracy Avila, 51, pleaded not guilty to a felony count of grand theft. She allegedly stole tens of thousands of dollars from the U.S. Environmental Agency and the Elem Indian Colony of Pomo Indians while working for the tribe as the fiscal officer from February 2006 to September 2008.

Avila”s trial is scheduled to begin Aug. 14. A trial assignment session is set for Aug. 9.
