LOWER LAKE — A fire consumed two outbuildings and an acre of wildland, as well as damaged power lines on Jessie Street and Highway 53 Wednesday afternoon.
The blaze was reported just after 2 p.m. as a vegetation fire with buildings involved, and Lake County Fire Protection District (LCFPD) personnel were the first to respond, CAL FIRE Battalion Chief Mike Wink said.
About 35 firefighters from LCFPD, Northshore Fire Protection District, CAL FIRE and U.S. Forestry Service personnel responded with nine engineers and one water tender, Wink said. A helicopter, three air tanks and an air attack plane were called in but were not all needed.
The fire was contained within 45 minutes, Wink said. Caltrans, California Highway Patrol and PG&E personnel were also at the scene.
PG&E temporarily shut down power in the area to repair lines, and service will be restored at about 7 p.m., Wink said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, incident commander and LCFPD Fire Chief Willie Sapeta said.
