SPRING VALLEY — New Long Valley Road at Highway 20 will be closed to all traffic because of a wildland fire, according to a press release by the Department of Public Works sent at approximately 2:15 p.m.
People are being asked to avoid this area if at all possible to allow emergency personnel to get equipment in quickly and speed up any necessary evacuations, the release states.
A grass fire in the area was reported just after 1 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol website.
Multiple units, including air attack, have responded to the fire reported to be at a high rate of spread.
