LAKEPORT — A Clearlake man sat across from a judge Monday wearing black and white striped shirt and pants as he heard the half-a-year away date in which he will finally face trial for the alleged stabbing murder of a man last year.
Darrell Vernon Sidwell held an expressionless look as Judge Robert L. Crone Jr. set a trial date for Jan. 29, 2013, with a hearing to set a time and courtroom on Jan. 24, 2013.
Sidwell pleaded not guilty in May on three felony counts that stemmed from the stabbing death of Brad Beaudoin. Sidwell allegedly stabbed Beaudoin in the abdomen May 9 during an altercation about the location of an out-of-water parked boat in Clearlake.
Judge Andrew S. Blum found enough evidence to take the case to court during a July 12 preliminary hearing in which five witnesses, of whom four were law enforcement officers, gave their accounts of the incident.
Sidwell remains in custody at the Lake County Hill Road Correctional Facility.
