LAKE COUNTY — More than 200 people attended the Fiesta of the Horse on June 30.
The Lake County Horse Council (LCHC) free-of-charge event was held at Rancho de la Fuente and hosted by owners Frank and Rosanna Perez. The event showcased the Lake County equestrian community.
“Gift to the community” is the horse council”s motivation for putting on this family event, according to show organizer Deb Baumann. To defray expenses, the LCHC welcomed co-sponsors who donated prizes or money.
After a grand entry with flag presentation by members of the Lake County Junior Horsemen, the opening act was a display of Medieval jousting. This was the first time Lake County has held a jousting, Baumann stated.
Other performances included Flamenca and Garrocha, Arabian, Morgan, Mustang and Colonial Spanish horse breed demonstrations, a western dressage musical exhibition by Nancy Williams, a comedy Wild West act provided by sharpshooter Annie Oakley and Mounted Shooting.
