LAKEPORT — The City Council, as well as City staff and police will commend Stephanie Green and 10-year-old Hannah Steffen for their lifesaving efforts.
The commendations will be presented at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 6 during Lakeport”s National Night Out (NNO) event at the Lakeport Latter-Day Saints Church at 600 16th St., according to Chief Brad Rasmussen.?The public is invited to attend.
According to authorities, Steffen spotted a man drowning in a pool at the Regency Inn on July 9. Green, who additionally received commendation at a Lake County Board of Supervisors meeting Tuesday, reportedly jumped in the water in full police gear and pulled the man to surface from 8 feet below.
The NNO event from 6 to 8 p.m. will also have other officers and volunteers, as well as city staff and Lakeport Fire Protection District personnel on hand to provide information and materials about community policing programs, neighborhood watch, community safety, fire safety and prevention and other health and welfare issues, Rasmussen stated.
There will be free-of-charge hot dogs and drinks served by the Lakeport Kiwanis Club, he stated.
