LAKE COUNTY — Lindee Jones was recently awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Clear Lake Trowel & Trellis Garden Club (CLT&TGC) for the second year in a row.
Jones, a former Middletown High School (MHS) student, attended Shasta Community College (SCC) this past year, according to Debra Watson, CLT&TGC publicist. During her time at MHS, she was active in Lake County Future Farmers of America, 4-H and High School Rodeo. Jones also committed more than 100 hours of her time into community service activities.
She intends to complete her associates degree in environmental horticulture at SCC, and is also taking classes to prepare her for the Pest Control Advisor Exam.
The CLT&TGC members raise funds for their yearly scholarship by making holiday wreaths out of fresh foliage.
The CLT&TGC welcomes new members and information can be found by visiting www.CLT&TGC.org. The Club meets on the third Tuesday of every month (except July and Aug.) for a lunch and garden-based program at noon at the Scott”s Valley Women”s Clubhouse, located at 2298 Hendricks Road, Lakeport.
