CLEARLAKE — Emeritus at Orchard Park has launched the Shade Brigade to help seniors who have immediate needs arising from the recent hot weather.
The Shade Brigade is being launched in communities across the nation as part of Emeritus Senior Living”s “Safely Somewhere” program.
The company”s goal is to reach out to more than 5,000 seniors during the summer months.
“Summer”s heat can be more than simply unpleasant. It can be deadly. And seniors are more susceptible to heat stroke than younger people,” according to Carly Britton, executive director for Emeritus at Orchard Park. “Because dehydration is more common and more dangerous in hot weather, we”re delivering coolers full of water, popsicles, juice, fruit and safety tips on how to stay healthy during hot weather. We”re also ensuring seniors are safe in their homes and providing resources if they need help in staying cool.”
Emeritus at Orchard Park is part of Emeritus Senior Living, the nation”s largest memory care and assisted living provider, with the ability to serve nearly 50,000 people. Emeritus offers senior residential choices, care options and life enrichment programs throughout the aging process on senior living, care, wellness, brain health, care giving and family topics at www.Emeritus.com.
