LUCERNE — An argument over a marijuana theft that escalated into a fight involving 10 people led to the stabbing of a 25-year-old man on July 25, authorities said in a statement released Thursday evening.
Shortly after the stabbing of David Dancer of Lucerne, a 16-year-old suspect was arrested, charged with assault with a deadly weapon and taken to Lake County Juvenile Hall, according to Lt. Steve Brooks of the Lake County Sheriff”s Office (LCSO) .
Dancer, who suffered a stab wound to the abdomen, was treated on site by Northshore Fire Protection District paramedics and then flown by REACH helicopter to Santa Rosa Memorial hospital, where he underwent surgery for a collapsed lung and a punctured diaphragm, according to reports.
Dancer was released from the hospital on Monday, according to hospital staff.
The stabbing took place on the 6200 block of Highway 20 near the Foster Freeze in downtown Lucerne after an argument escalated and the 16-year-old suspect allegedly brandished a knife, Brooks stated in the news release.
The altercation became physical and the juvenile allegedly stabbed Dancer one time in the abdomen, then left before returning to the scene at the request of his family and the investigating deputy, according to Brooks.
The suspect provided LCSO personnel with the location of the knife, which was recovered, Brooks stated.
