LUCERNE — The wildfire that broke out northeast of Lucerne near the Point Lakeview Campground Monday evening was put out in less than hour, according to Battalion Chief Pat Brown of the Northshore Fire Protection District.
The fire burned about 2.5 acres of heavy timber in the Mendocino County National Forest, and a related “spot fire” fire consumed a couple hundred square feet.
Fire engines from Clearlake Oaks, Lucerne and Nice responded from the Northshore district, plus a water tender from Clearlake Oaks, according to Brown.
CAL FIRE contributed two more engines and bulldozer before the Department of Forestry took over cleanup operations with one fire engine and a hand crew.
Brown said the fire is under investigation.
