LAKE COUNTY — The Lake County Office of Education (LCOE) will hold a workshop for those who want to improve their skills in math, reading and writing in standardized tests.
LCOE will offer workshops on Aug.10 and 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The workshops are aimed to improve skills for tests such as the GED, ACCUPLACER and the SAT.
Students will complete a pre-assessment to decide their needs. Instruction on test- taking strategies and development of individual plans of action for improving a score will be given as well.
Exams such as the GED will change in January. Students who have already begun by taking a portion of the battery must complete the process by the end of December or their scores will become invalid.
The workshop will allow students such as those currently attempting the GED to access the information they need.
The workshops are open to all adults and high school students. Space is limited to 15 students per workshop.
To allow for maximum participation, the LCOE requests that students attend only one of the dates. The cost of the one-day workshop is $50 and includes enrollment in the computer lab for the remainder of August.
The workshops will take place at the Clearlake Community School, located at 6945 Old Highway 53 in Clearlake.
The event is hosted by the Career Technical Education and College Going-Initiative Department of the LCOE.
