LAKE COUNTY — The Lake County Bar Association has recently published its website at www.lakecobar.com.

“The site is designed to allow the public to search for a local attorney by name or by practice area,” Mary Heare Amodio, president of the bar association, said. “Attorneys listed on the site are members of the local association who have provided information to the bar for publication.

“Lake County has less than 90 active attorneys, including several who practice outside of the county, registered as active members of the State Bar of California. The association tries to provide Mandatory Continuing Education to those attorneys as well as an occasional social event to increase interaction among members of the bar,” Amodio said.

The Bar wants the online feature, ?find an attorney,” to replace the informal referral service the bar president has provided to consumers in the past.

While larger county bar associations such as Sonoma, Marin, Solano and Contra Costa counties, have a formal lawyer Referral Service that helps link consumers with attorneys in a particular practice area, the Lake County bar is too small to have that type of service, according to Amodio.

Recommendations and suggestions that would help the bar improve the website and information that consumers believe should be a part of the website are welcome. Comments can be sent through the ?contact us” box on the website itself.
