KELSEYVILLE — After cleaning my bathroom and doing some laundry I sat down to take a coffee break and read the Aug. 1 edition of the Record-Bee.
The first page included a drive-by shooting, a stabbing, an egotistical sheriff whose antics allowed a pot dealer to walk, a man charged with sexual assault and a local bus strike.
Just when I thought I could have started off my day in a better way, I was moved by the article finding a memorial plaque buried in the shade of an oak tree honoring a man with a kind heart more than 90 years ago. Read on and you have rapport with a reporter who honors his faithful old friend, his car.
The editor of the Chico paper writes how he was bothered by the fact that he did not help a cranky old man. Also included was a letter of thanks from the family of a beloved member who passed. Mentioned were the many kindnesses of the nurses at Sutter Lakeside Hospital and the EMT firefighters for their gentle, kind respect while transferring him to emergency and the caring of the congregation at their church. All of these kindnesses I can attest to also, as I experienced the same gentle caring with my husband. So thanks Record-Bee and keep reminding us that the good still overrides the bad in Lake County.
