NICE — A man sustained moderate injuries after being hit by a car Friday night at the crosswalk of Highway 20 and Keeling Avenue.
Julie Bywaters, 64, of Nice, was driving eastbound on Highway 20 at roughly 40 mph just after 9 p.m. when she approached the crosswalk, California Highway Patrol officer Glen Thomas stated in a report. Bywaters did not notice Shane D. Nelson, 41, of Oneota Ala., crossing the street and hit him with the front right part of her 1990 Nissan.
Nelson was transported to Sutter Lakeside Hospital for treatment.
Alcohol was not considered a factor, Thomas stated, but the incident is under investigation.
