LAKE COUNTY — Responding to recent business closures and layoffs in Lake County, WorkforceLake (WFL) has received a specialized grant to assist laid-off employees from specific industries get back to work.
WFL will hold an informational orientation to explain available services for dislocated workers today in Lakeport at 3 p.m.
Workers who were laid off from a restaurant, hotel/motel, winery, hospital, some packing sheds and south lake school districts are encouraged to attend, according to Jill Ruzicka of WFL.
Guests will learn about some of the services that may be available, including training opportunities and reemployment benefits such as career assessment, assistance with tuition and books while attending college or vocational training, job development and paid on-the-job training opportunities, Ruzicka stated.
Services for eligible dislocated workers are funded by the Workforce Investment Act (WIA).
The orientation will be at 55 First St. in Lakeport.
