COUNTY PARK — Lake County Palms advanced to the best-of-three championship round in the women”s league softball playoffs with a 28-7 victory over Master Batters on Monday at Lakeside County Park.
Lake County Palms will meet undefeated regular-season winner Cobb Mountain Golf in the championship round. The Palms are the seven-time defending league champions.
Master Batters jumped out to a 4-0 lead before Lake County Palms took control of the game with a 14-run third inning.
Tammi Mendonca led the way for the Palms with five hits. Jessica Swaney, Lori Wilson and Julie Kelley added four hits apiece while Savannah Dekeyser and Chyral Bryant had three hits each.
Danelle Rogers” four hits, including a double and a triple, led the Master Batters.
The best-of-three championship series opened Tuesday. Game two is Thursday and a third game, if needed, takes place on Aug. 20. All games begin at 6:30 p.m.
