LAKEPORT — A Lakeport man accused of shooting at utility workers last year was transported to Napa State Hospital Aug. 6 after being ruled mentally unfit to face trail in May.
Dennis Leroy Cato”s nearly three-month wait to be transported came to a close after hospital officials agreed to transport Dennis Leroy Cato by Aug. 7 during Cato”s last hearing on July 23, defense attorney Komnith Moth said.
Deputy District Attorney Susan Krones confirmed Cato was transferred Monday morning.
Cato”s transfer had been delayed because of space availability issues at Napa State Hospital, Moth said.
Cato was charged with seven felonies after he allegedly shot at a pair of PG&E subcontractors who were finishing up work at his Hill Road East home in Lakeport Aug. 29 of last year.
He had been in custody at the Lake County Hill Road Correctional Facility prior to being transported.
