KELSEYVILLE — The 47th quilt block, “Flowers and Ferns” on the Lake County Quilt Trail (LCQT), has been installed on the Kelseyville Pharmacy building, located at 3720 Main St. in Kelseyville.
The LCQT is an agricultural and tourism project designed to promote community pride.
Kelseyville Pharmacy is owned by Ruth and Tom Stewart. The Stewarts are supporters of student activities and community events in Kelseyville and have been for years.
The sponsors of “Flowers and Ferns” are sisters Gerri Groody and Bonnie Kolesar. The design of the quilt block reminded them of the top of a Russian lacquer box.
The quilt block is a tribute to their mother, Mary Robbins, a nod to their Russian heritage and to the appreciation their mom had for beautiful flowers, Groody stated.
The GPS location is Latitude 38.97, Longitude -122.84.
The 4-by-4-foot quilt block was drawn and painted by Groody with the help of a group of quilters, graphic artists, painters, writers, carpenters and a videographer.
