ROHNERT PARK — Rancho Cotate scored all four of its goals in the first half while beating the Clear Lake Cardinals 4-0 in a non-league varsity girls” soccer game on Wednesday in Rohnert Park.
“We played real well in the second half,” Clear Lake coach Paul Larrea said. “We had some new-season jitters and nerves and made some mistakes that led to goals. They”re a Division I team and you can”t make those types of mistakes against them.”
Standouts for the Cardinals (0-1) in their season opener were Heather Werner, Hannah Norwood and Kelcie Reynolds, according to Larrea.
Clear Lake returns home Aug. 29 to play Calistoga in a non-league game at 4:30 p.m.
