LAKEPORT — Randy Ritter of Sacramento took top honors in the third annual Lakeport Yacht Club Catfish Derby, which concluded its three-day run on Sunday.

Ritter weighed in a 19-pound, 2-ounce catfish to capture the first-place prize money of $900. He said he caught his winning catfish off Henderson Point at 5 p.m. on Saturday. He used chicken liver for bait.

Second place went to Henry Kowalski of Kelseyville with a 18-5 catfish. He won $500. Third place and $300 went to Mike Nylander of Clearlake Oaks with a 16-13 catfish.

Rounding out the top five places were Everett Walton of Morgan Hill with a 16-10 catfish worth $250, and Bryan Van Lingen of Lucerne with a 16-8 catfish worth $150.

The winner in the children”s division was Justin Helm of Upper Lake with a 14-7 catfish.

The fundraiser for the Lakeport Yacht Club drew 56 adults and 11 children. The derby ran from 5 p.m. on Friday until noon Sunday.
