UPPER LAKE — Lake County Sheriff”s deputies arrested a woman and charged her with possession of prescription pills without a prescription during a traffic stop Friday.

Sheriff”s deputies stopped a Buick sedan that was traveling westbound on Highway 20 near Van Sleeper Drive at about 9:45 p.m., Lake County Sheriff”s Office Lt. Steve Brooks stated in a press release Monday. The traffic stop occurred after the driver allegedly crossed marked double yellow lines and the deputy reportedly noticed a brake light did not illuminate.

During questioning, the deputy asked passenger April Lynn Blakley, of Ukiah, if he could search her purse, Brooks stated. Blakley reportedly granted permission, and the deputy allegedly found 33 pills of Hydrocodone and five pills of Carisoprodol in two plastic bags in the purse.

Deputies alleged Blakley did not have a prescription. She reportedly said she was transporting the pills for a friend who could not transport them, Brooks stated.

Blakley was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance and transportation of a controlled substance, Brooks stated. She was booked at the Lake County Hill Road Correctional Facility.

The driver was not charged.
