LAKEPORT — The four people who allegedly led a high-speed chase and a subsequent manhunt in Clearlake last June appeared in court for grand jury proceedings Thursday afternoon at the Lake County Courthouse.

Grand juries are rarely used, even moreso in Lake County, District Attorney Don Anderson said. Anderson was not able to explain why those measures are being taken because of the confidentiality that type of trial requires.

A grand jury is typically made up of 23 or more people and has the power to conduct investigations and decide whether someone should be indicted or not. The use of a grand jury would bypass a preliminary hearing and the case would go to trial.

Anderson said it is possible that Dion Andre Davis II, 26, of San Francisco, Tyler Christopher Gallon, 18, of Clearlake, Sean Douglas Foss, 20, of Clearlake and Jenaya Drevelyn Jelinek, 22, of San Francisco will be indicted Tuesday.

If an indictment does not take place, a preliminary hearing is scheduled to take place Friday at 9 a.m.

The maximum sentence for the three men, if convicted, may be life in prison, Anderson said. Jelinek may receive at least 13 years in prison, depending on her exposure to the charges.

Authorities claim Jelinek was the driver the morning of June 28, when the group allegedly attempted to rob a Clearlake Oaks home and shot a man in the process. The group then reportedly fled and led police on a high-speed chase that ended on a dead-end street in the area of 16th and Bush streets in Clearlake Park, where shots were allegedly fired at police officers.

Jelinek was arrested soon after the pursuit ended, but the three men fled and led a manhunt that lasted hours.

The three men were found in a home at the 3000 block of 15th Street. Gallon and Foss were taken into custody after a brief standoff, but Davis reportedly refused to comply with orders to exit and barricaded himself inside the home. He eventually surrendered without further incident.

The group faces as many as 16 charges, including attempted murder of a police officer, attempted murder, robbery, burglary, and shooting at an occupied dwelling, Anderson said.

Their next appearance in court is scheduled for Thursday at 4 p.m., when they will be arraigned if they are indicted Tuesday.

The group is in custody at the Lake County Hill Road Correctional Facility.
