UPPER LAKE — Brianna Ortiz had eight kills and teammate Renee Edwards had five as Middletown beat Upper Lake 25-21, 25-14, 25-23 in non-league varsity volleyball action on Thursday in Upper Lake.
It was the season opener for both teams.
Heather Huston also had three kills and two aces for Middletown (1-0).
“They looked great, I was really happy with our play,” Middletown coach Jennifer Breiner said. “I have a really good, dedicated group.”
Upper Lake individual totals were not reported.
Upper Lake did win the JV match 25-22, 25-13.
