LAKEPORT — Four people allegedly responsible for a manhunt that lasted several hours in June were indicted Tuesday after a grand jury found sufficient evidence to take the matter to trial.

Dion Andre Davis II, 26, and Jenaya Drevelyn Jelinek, 22, both of San Francisco, and Tyler Christopher Gallon, 18, and Sean Douglas Foss, 22, both of Clearlake, made an appearance in court Friday for grand jury proceedings. During the hearing, District Attorney Don Anderson said that it was possible the four would be indicted Tuesday.

The grand jury met Tuesday and the indictment was signed by the afternoon.

“There was substantial evidence,” Anderson said.

One of the main reasons the court opted for a grand jury was to avoid scheduling problems and accelerate the proceedings, Anderson said. Since the case involves four defendants, it would have been harder to schedule preliminary hearings for each of them in a timely manner. A grand jury process eliminated a need for preliminary hearings.

Authorities allege the group was involved in the robbery of a Clearlake Oaks home in which a man was shot on June 28. The robbery later spurred a high-speed car chase. After the chase ended, the three men reportedly shot at police and ran from the scene, leading a manhunt that lasted hours.

The manhunt summoned the use of helicopters, k-9 units and dozens of police officers, some armed with semi-automatic weapons.

Jelinek, who was reportedly driving, was apprehended soon after the chase ended at a dead-end street in the area of 16th and Bush streets in Clearlake Park.

Davis, Foss, Gallon and Jelinek are scheduled to appear in court Thursday at 4 p.m. for their arraignment. They face up to 16 felony charges, including attempted murder, attempted murder of a peace officer, robbery and burglary.

If convicted, the men could face life in prison, Anderson said Friday. Jelinek could face at least 13 years in prison, depending on her exposure to the 16 felony counts.

The group is in custody at the Lake County Hill Road Correctional Facility.
