DURHAM — In a battle of varsity football teams with Trojans as their mascots, it was Durham pulling away in the third quarter to beat Lower Lake 44-20 in non-league action on Friday night in Durham.

Lower Lake (1-1) kept the game close until halftime at which point Durham”s passing attack began to take its toll, according to Lower Lake coach Justin Gaddy.

“We had some guys banged up and depth was an issue,” he said.

Quarterback Isazah King ran for one of Lower Lake”s touchdowns and threw another — a 62-yard bomb — to Ryan Dahneke. Mason Sanders added a rushing score and a two-point conversion run.

“It was the good preseason game we were looking for to test us and get us ready for league,” Gaddy said. “We were able to make some improvements and get better.”

Durham (1-2) won its first game of the season.
