MIDDLETOWN — The Anderson Valley Panthers systemically dissected the Middletown Mustangs on Monday in non-league boys” soccer action at Middletown High School.
“We were outskilled, outplayed … they totally dominated the game,” Middletown coach Chuck Rannells said following a 7-1 loss. “By far the best team we”ve played this year.”
Anderson Valley built a 4-0 lead in the first half and added three more insurance goals, all scored within a short period, in the second half. Middletown”s lone score was a penalty kick off the foot of Brandon Rannells.
“It was just a good old fashioned butt kicking,” Rannells said. “It”s not that my guys didn”t play hard because they did. They didn”t give up.”
Nick Santos” play on the defensive line was a highlight for Middletown, according to Rannells.
The loss drops Middletown to 2-6 on the season. The Mustangs resume their North Central League I schedule today in Cloverdale at 4 p.m.
