KELSEYVILLE — Despite losing one of their setters, Riley Goff, to a foot injury, the Kelseyville Knights logged their first North Central League I varsity volleyball victory by beating the Cloverdale Eagles 25-17, 25-19, 22-25, 25-21 on Thursday night in Kelseyville.
Goff aggravated an existing injury and was replaced by Elena Goss, who filled in nicely, according to Kelseyville coach Donelle McCallister.
Jeannie Johnson pounded away at the Eagles (0-2) up front, registering 14 kills on 34 arm swings.
“Cloverdale was covering real well in the back row,” McCallister said. “They picked up a lot of swings.”
The Knights (1-1) answered with some pretty good defense of their own, including 26 digs from Mary McCallister, who also had three blocks.
“Mary did a really good job with her sets, passes and digs,” McCallister said.
Libero Lauren Rudnick also helped out with 11 digs.
“Lauren did a nice job,” McCallister said.
Kelseyville also won the junior varsity match, beating Cloverdale 25-22, 25-20.
