UKIAH — The sixth annual Rising Stars Music Competition will take place at the Redwood Empire Fairgrounds in Ukiah on Saturday.
More than 50 musicians with a wide range of musical styles will be performing on stage during a 12 hour period, Starting at noon and ending at midnight. Whispering Light and K-Town Ent. are two Lake County musical groups that will be at the event. Each musician must follow the guidelines of performance, including keeping their act family friendly.
Musicians are given 25 minutes to set up, perform and leave the stage. Performances are judged on criteria, stage presence and audience reaction.
The competition has five divisions, winners will be awarded in each of the five divisions with first, second and third-place decided by fan votes. Winners are awarded at the end of the night. Prizes include studio time, limo rides, music certificates, paid performances and cash.
Entry to the event costs $7 for people 6 years and older. Food and refreshments will be available along with local merchants.
