SANTA ROSA — The Upper Lake Cougars didn”t score but did show some progress in a 6-0 North Central League II girls” soccer loss to Rincon Valley Christian on Friday afternoon in Santa Rosa.

“They played really well,” Upper Lake coach Mandy Robbins said. “We had some great defense, some great midfield play. The defense looked really strong.”

Megan Wold stopped 14 of 20 shots in the net and Sheyla Ayala and Morgan Lucas were other standouts for the Cougars, according to Robbins.

“They”re finally coming together as a team,” Robbins said. “They were actually communicating today.”

Upper Lake returns to action Wednesday against Roseland Prep in Santa Rosa at 4 p.m.
