Statistical leaders
Rushing — Kelseyville”s Kevin Duty rushed for 266 yards, four touchdowns and a pair of two-point conversions in a 44-42 loss to Fort Bragg. Lower Lake quarterback Isazah King rolled up 149 yards on 17 carries with two touchdowns in a 35-20 loss to Clear Lake. King”s teammate, Erick Moreno, added 110 yards on 13 carries with a TD. For Clear Lake, Marty Sugimoto ran the ball eight times for 50 yards and three TDs. Middletown”s Austin Benson logged 22 carries for 126 yards and a TD in a 21-6 victory over St. Helena.
Passing — Clear Lake”s Adrian Adams went 8-for-10 for 111 yards against Lower Lake. Middletown”s Josiah Amos went 7-for-19 for 78 yards and a TD against St. Helena. Upper Lake”s Mike DiAndrea completed four of his nine attempts for 49 yards.
Receiving — Clear Lake”s David Mansell had six catches for 74 yards. Middletown”s Anthonie Guzman caught six passes for 61 yards and a TD. Upper Lake”s Greg Gagnon had three catches for 42 yards.
Highlights
Special teams — Almon Lichtendahl went 3-for-3 on extra-point kicks in Middletown”s win over St. Helena. Clear Lake”s Cole Brodnansy also kicked three PATs in a win over Lower Lake.
Defense — Clear Lake defensive end Gabe Oilar-Strong intercepted two passes, returning one for a touchdown, against Lower Lake. Kelseyville”s Codi McGuire caused two fumbles and recovered one against Fort Bragg. Lower Lake”s Benjamin Day recovered his Lake County-leading fourth fumble against Clear Lake, the fumble recovery setting up a Lower Lake touchdown.
Streaks — Middletown”s junior varsity beat St. Helena 19-11, improving the Mustangs” record to 3-0 league and 6-0 overall. Clear Lake”s JVs (5-1) won their fifth straight with a come-from-behind 20-18 victory over Lower Lake. Upper Lake”s varsity has lost 10 in a row dating back to last season.
More streaks — Middletown had gone 19 straight quarters without allowing a point until St. Helena scored on a 97-yard kickoff return in the fourth quarter on Friday night. However, Middletown”s defense has not allowed a point in five consecutive games. Upper Lake has been shut out in its last three games.
Sack attack — Demarco Metcalfe had a 11/2 of Clear Lake”s three sacks against Lower Lake.
Didn”t see that one coming — Fort Bragg and Kelseyville combined for 86 points in a wild shootout on Friday in Fort Bragg.
Homecoming — Lower Lake celebrates its homecoming this Friday against Cloverdale.
He”s OK — Though shaken up in Middletown”s 21-6 over St. Helena on Friday night, running back/middle linebacker Brad Beckwith was back at practice on Monday.
Yellow blizzard — Lower Lake racked up 120 yards in penalties, most of those in the first half while digging itself a 28-0 hole against Clear Lake. The Trojans made a game of it in the second half but couldn”t quite recover.
Five touchdowns — Emery”s Dante Johnson ran for two touchdowns, caught two TD passes and had a 55-yard punt return for another score in the Spartans” 72-0 win over Upper Lake.
Volleyball showdown — St. Helena visits Kelseyville on Wednesday. Both teams bring 5-1 league records into the week.
Two points shy of 100 — Kelseyville running back Kevin Duty has a Lake County-leading 98 points going into action Friday against Middletown.
Girls” soccer showdown — Cloverdale (10-0) and Middletown (9-1) collide Thursday in Middletown at 4 p.m.
