Thank you very much for printing Mr. McKay”s letter on Oct. 3.

I was wondering if perhaps Mr. McKay could further enlighten me as to where he found his version of the Affordable Care Act — the one I have checked only had the actual bills themselves and the Affordable Care Act was 906 pages and the Reconciliation Bill (H.R. 4872) was 55 pages.

There were no billing codes as that is the purview of the private, for-profit insurance companies that now find themselves with more customers (and a guarantee of 20 percent profit). I filled in the seat at the front desk of a friend of mine that had a health care practice — what you write of sounds much more like the Big Books Of Billable Codes For Insurance Companies than the actual Affordable Care Act. Although I suppose it you printed out both documents (ACA and HR4872) in the largest font possible, you could make it appear larger — doubt you could make it into 24,000 pages of rules however.

Is he aware that California is running its own exchange? I hope so, and also hope that he has visited the site. I got through easily as I started early in the day although I hear that due to higher than anticipated inquiries it crashed the system.

Normally in capitalist economies that is a good sign. However, I will readily admit, there was no “Obamacare” plan to sign up with, just our regular for profit companies that have been serving Lake County for a very long time.

Conservatives really have me quite confused — this entire concept of how to deliver health care to all Americans was a Republican idea to begin with (see RomneyCare for the most recent example).

I”d love to hear about his experience with health care, who his provider is and how good a plan they may have to offer. So hopefully he can help me out with that. Of course, if his health care comes to him via Medicare and/or the VA — we”d be comparing apples to oranges.

And just for the record — there cannot be 24,000 ObamaCare codes in the Affordable Care Act. That reminds me of the gentleman who stopped at the Affordable Care Act booth at his local fair, checked it out and said out loud “This is a lot better than ObamaCare”. D”oh!
