LAKEPORT — Honorary Lakeport Police Department (LPD) Officer Ronnie Dekeyser IV leads the Clear Lake High School homecoming parade Friday afternoon along with his partner, LPD Lt. Jason Ferguson.

The Clear Lake High School marching band kept a rhythmic atmosphere going and Ronnie waved at people as his police car rolled down Main Street in Lakeport. In 2007 Ronnie was diagnosed with Diffuse Pontine Glioma, a cancerous brain tumor. For the past three years the tumor was inactive, but four months ago the tumor became active. It is a non-operable tumor.

Ronnie was sworn in as an honorary police officer Oct. 3 and reached his dream of becoming a police officer.

On each side, Ronnie”s two brothers marked the parade pace with him in separate police cars. A few hours later the Cardinals defeated Lower Lake High School 35-20.

There will be a silent auction and tri-tip barbecue at the Lakeport Elks Lodge on Nov. 9 to raise funds in order to fulfill Ronnie”s wish list. The auction starts at 3 p.m. and food at 4 p.m. There will be a raffle as well.

For more information call 245-0283, 263-3956 or Lakeport Elks Lodge at 263-8422. Organizers are seeking businesses and individuals willing to donate items for the silent auction.
